COURSES AVAILABLE FOR AUDIT OR UNDERGRADUATE CREDIT
This course addresses both the student’s own need for spiritual formation and the issues involved as they facilitate the spiritual formation of others in the community of faith. This is a seminar-style research class, with the students working together to examine Jesus’ approach to discipling in the Gospels. They will then determine ways in which this might be applied in a contemporary context. Students will divide up research tasks on New Testament passages and present their findings to one another. Taking their findings, they will apply these insights to their own ministry contexts.
Students will gain a better understanding of Jesus’ ministry among His disciples. They will apply this knowledge to the needs of the contemporary church, assessing the challenges and opportunities afforded by their own ministry contexts, before making alterations to their ministry practices and evaluating the success of these changes.
