Issues in Global Mission
This course introduces students to contemporary issues in global missiology, assisting them in understanding the scope of present-day missiology and its applications in the North American context. Lessons learned through recent decades of cross-cultural mission will be explored and applied to contemporary thought about the re-evangelization of the Western world.
The course will address key missiological issues including incarnational and holistic mission, contextualization, mission in reverse, downward mobility, mission from the margins, and multiculturalism. Students will be introduced to key missions documents, including particularly the Lausanne Covenant, and made conversant with aspects of cross-cultural missiology and the bearing these have on the North American context. This course will prepare students for the outreach component of their program.
John Hall- Executive Director of Mission Central- is the primary teacher of this course.
