COURSES AVAILABLE FOR AUDIT OR UNDERGRADUATE CREDIT
Building on the missional church course (or Church in Mission), this course studies the practices of church ministry and leadership indicated by the renewed theological vision of the church in mission required by missional theology. Students will learn to form their convictions about the nature of church leadership from the revelation of God’s leadership of his people in the Old and New Testaments. In order to facilitate this the course will include the close study of one NT book or passage.
Students will be encouraged to develop a fresh vision for church leadership and ministry by reviewing the traditional job description of the pastor, giving critical feedback, and proposing changes necessary in the light of their reading of the NT and of the contemporary situation of the church in N. America. A framework for understanding church leadership practices will be developed from the Greatest Commandment.
